What can your students look forward to this year?
Students can look forward to a print rich classroom filled with artifacts and centers to provide not only textbook learning, but hands on learning as well! Students will dive into a large array of chapter books and magazines. In Social Studies we will learn about "Communities Near and Far." Our science unit of study begins with Engineering & Technology! We will study characters and enhance our writing techniques in our Reading and Writing workshops!
What is unique or interesting about your class?
My classroom is setup to for all learners to feel comfortable, because after all this is their home away from home! Alternative seating options are available and comfort is a top priority. My classroom is a space that accommodates all learning styles: visual, auditory, reading/writing and kinesthetic.
What is something different or cool from what they may have learned/experienced last year?
Something cool that will be incorporated into my 3rd grade classroom is a greater emphasis of the arts when appropriate! I personally love the arts and I feel its a great way for students to express themselves and showcase their creativity. Therefore, I will be weaving in hands on projects to partner with my lessons when applicable. Also, we are going to be getting a class pet. Will it be a turtle or hamster? We will find out soon!
Message to Parents
Greetings parents!
I am so excited you chose Our Lady of Guadalupe School as a learning environment for your child. I am equally excited that your child was placed in my 3rd grade class! I am looking forward to getting to know your child and meeting you. Together we will make their experience here a great one! Throughout the year the best communication with me is through the Remind app. Also, I can be reached via email at: hsimpson@olgschools.org. Choosing a school for your child to attend is a difficult task. But, choosing a school to trust to guide your child is an even greater one! Thank you for trusting our school professionals to guide your child academically and spirtually.
Warm regards, Heather Simpson
